Young Lawyers – About Us

Welcome to The Young Lawyers’ Section of the Tallahassee Bar Association!

The Young Lawyers’ Section is open to law students, young attorneys (36 or younger, remember when that was old!) and those attorneys admitted to the Bar within the last 5 years. The main purpose of YLS is simple … to use social networking to accomplish professional networking and to spotlight Tallahassee as a great place to be during law school, after graduation, and as a young professional!

As a group, YLS promotes professional growth and encourages young lawyers to get out there and meet members of Tallahassee’s legal community.  We also work to contribute to the betterment of our entire community through charitable functions and projects. One of our best events is Christmas in July, where we rent out a skating rink and invite local foster children to join us for a great day of skating, presents and a visit from Santa.

And because we focus on networking, our happy hours – “Docket Call” – are a must! We meet the last Thursday of every month at different bars around town.  This year, we hope you come to all of our happy hours as we are adding something new that we like to call “A Visit with the Community.”  Every month, we will invite a local charity or community organization to join us for a visit.  There will be NO fundraising or high-pressure sales, just a chance to become involved or learn a little more about our community.

Not only can we put on a great happy hour, but we have other events to be proud of! Every year, we work with the Second Circuit to put on Afternoon in the Courthouse, which is a CLE program designed to educate lawyers of all ages about the courthouse and the people that make it run so well.
