Member Benefits-Lawyer Referral
The Tallahassee Bar’s Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is designed to serve the public’s need for assistance in locating qualified attorneys in specific areas of law.
The LRS refers lawyers to the general public looking for a lawyer who can pay a reasonable fee for legal representation to LRS member attorneys of the Tallahassee Bar Association (TBA). Members of the LRS are asked to provide referred parties with an initial legal consultation for a set fee (currently $25 for half an hour) or no fee (if it is a contingency case). After the initial consultation, the referred party may retain the LRS member for additional services on a reasonable fee basis.
The TBA’s LRS, operating under the guidelines of the Florida Bar, offers services in 26 areas of law. Upon calling the LRS, parties are referred to LRS members based on their specific legal needs.
Since its inception in 1992, the TBA’s LRS has provided services to more than 46,000 members of the community. The LRS has been recognized as an excellent public service, as well as an opportunity for client contact for TBA members.

If You Are An Attorney Wishing to Join the LRS:
To be eligible for membership in the LRS, an attorney must be a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association and have proper liability insurance coverage.
The annual membership fee for the LRS is $125. This fee includes the choice of placement under 3 legal categories from which the LRS member will receive referrals. Members may add their name to additional categories for an annual fee of $15. For attorneys that have practiced five years or less, the fee is only $50 for the first year.
